What We Did

Days spent alongside the people doing the work.

A few highlights from the visit — though far from everything. Across the trip we moved between health centres, community associations, and the wards of Beira Central Hospital.

An adolescent-friendly health session at a SAAJ centre in Beira

Adolescent-friendly health centres (SAAJ)

We visited the SAAJ — Mozambique's adolescent-friendly health services — and saw how young people are given confidential, youth-focused care designed to meet them where they are.

The Youth Association of Andandijra

We met the Youth Association of Andandijra, where young activists promote health activities at the community level. We joined their group events and took part in their advocacy work.

Kuplumussana women's association

We met and led a discussion with Kuplumussana, a local association of women active in their communities to raise awareness about HIV. They tackle stigma and discrimination head-on, and actively seek out women who have stopped attending the health centre for HIV treatment to bring them back into care.

Daily visits to Beira Central Hospital

We made daily visits to Beira Central Hospital, where CUAMM works in the Department of Neonatology and Paediatrics — spending around three hours volunteering on the wards each day.

Fundraiser

Support a community we worked with in Beira.

During our visit we worked alongside a local group doing vital work in their own community. We've set up a GoFundMe to support them directly — every contribution, large or small, makes a difference.
